Is there a way to prevent this? Doesn’t stop me from doing my job, but is annoying 
I imagine you are using either 2025 or 2026, right?
That’s a known issue there. Honestly haven’t found a workaround. I noticed that not many people actually toggle the UI, which is why I stopped looking for solutions..
